Kunti K. back in pre-trial detention
Kunti K., who was released from pre-trial detention in September 2019 due to a procedural error, was arrested again on January 10, 2020 for violating the conditions placed on his release. Kunti K., initially arrested in September 2018 while trying to flee France, is suspected of crimes against humanity and torture.
Civitas Maxima represents several victims who have become civil parties in the proceedings against Kunti K., and is itself a civil party in the case in France.
When Kunti K.’s release was ordered in September 2019, Civitas Maxima and its sister organisation in Liberia, the Global Justice and Research Project, had expressed concerns that Kunti K. could evade justice by leaving French territory.
