Knowledge and Training Center (KTC)
As Civitas Maxima has been successfully running its unique work model for over 10 years with tangible results, we believe there is significant benefit in sharing our methodology, lessons learned, and work with grassroots organizations working in other countries/continents.
For this purpose, we have set up a Knowledge and Training Center within our Legal Unit.

We aim to:
- Facilitate the training of lawyers and investigators in different jurisdictions to better equip them to investigate and document international crimes, as well as bringing extraterritorial cases in front of national courts. We provide customized trainings based on our work model to selected local groups and victims’ associations; and
- Make relevant know-how on strategic litigation cases available (e.g. on where and how to initiate, support, and participate in international crimes cases in different foreign domestic legal systems).
Why the KTC?
Impact
We aim to scale up CM’s impact through trainings and open-access publications made available to grassroots organizations beyond West Africa. We have conducted several trainings and courses on how to build extraterritorial cases, international accountability avenues, and strategic litigation with carefully selected partners.

Personalization
CM offers tailor made trainings in order to better fit participants’ needs and work reality, during which we share pertinent knowledge on strategic litigation cases available. Topics explored during these trainings also include matters related documentation, archiving, information management, mapping of jurisdictions/legal avenues, and procedural aspects.
